Cases Accepted

Dr Nor Faizal operates across three clinical domains. Complex and refractory cases are especially welcomed — the difficult cases are where subspecialty expertise matters most.

01 — Neuro-Oncology
Brain & Spinal Tumour Surgery

Surgical management of primary and metastatic brain tumours, including awake craniotomy for eloquent cortex lesions. Integrated with radiation oncology and medical oncology for multidisciplinary neuro-oncology planning. Molecular profiling coordinated for IDH mutation, MGMT methylation, and 1p/19q codeletion.

Glioblastoma (GBM) Glioma (Grades 2–4) Meningioma Pituitary Tumour Brain Metastases Acoustic Neuroma Spinal Tumour Urgent: New Mass on MRI
02 — Headache & Facial Pain
Complex Headache & Facial Pain

Subspecialty assessment and management for headache disorders that have not responded to standard treatment, or where secondary causes require exclusion. Surgical options including microvascular decompression (MVD) for trigeminal neuralgia, and interventional options for refractory chronic migraine.

Trigeminal Neuralgia Chronic Migraine Cluster Headache Occipital Neuralgia Hemifacial Spasm Botulinum Toxin (Botox) MVD Surgery Urgent: New Headache Red Flags
03 — Interventional Pain
Chronic & Complex Pain Management

Interventional pain management from a neurosurgical perspective — offering the full spectrum from image-guided injections to spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery. Particularly suited for patients where conservative management has failed, or where surgical and interventional decisions intersect.

Failed Back Surgery Syndrome Spinal Cord Stimulation Neuropathic Pain CRPS Radiofrequency Ablation Cancer Pain Intrathecal Drug Delivery Urgent: Cauda Equina Syndrome

For Urgent Neurological Cases

If your patient presents with rapid neurological deterioration, new seizure with mass on imaging, cauda equina syndrome, or thunderclap headache — please refer directly to the Emergency Department at KPJ Tawakkal or contact the clinic immediately. Urgent cases are triaged and accommodated as a priority.

How to Refer

The referral process is designed to be as frictionless as possible. Most referrals are accommodated within a few days; urgent cases within 24–48 hours.

01
Send a brief WhatsApp or email

Include patient name, diagnosis or working diagnosis, reason for referral, and urgency. A copy of relevant imaging reports is helpful but not required at this stage.

02
Clinic contacts patient to book

The clinic team will contact your patient directly to arrange the appointment. You will receive confirmation. For urgent cases, same-day or next-day slots will be offered.

03
Patient brings imaging & notes

Ask your patient to bring any imaging (CD or report), previous clinic letters, medication list, and your referral letter if available. Digital imaging can be sent in advance if preferred.

04
You receive a feedback letter

A clinic letter summarising the assessment, management plan, and any procedures recommended will be prepared and sent to your clinic following the consultation.

Why Colleagues Refer to Dr Nor Faizal

Dual Subspecialty Expertise

Dr Nor Faizal is one of a small number of practitioners in Malaysia who holds dual training in neurosurgery and interventional pain management. Complex cases that sit at the intersection of surgery and pain — such as failed back surgery syndrome, spinal tumour with neuropathic pain, or post-operative headache — can be assessed and managed within a single subspecialty relationship, without multiple referrals.

Oxford-Standard Precision

Trained at the John Radcliffe Hospital, University of Oxford, under internationally recognised leaders including Professor Tipu Aziz and Professor Alexander Green. The standard of clinical reasoning, surgical planning, and informed consent applied in Oxford is the same standard applied in every case here.

Transparent, Closed-Loop Communication

A clinic letter summarising findings, decisions, and the management plan is sent to the referring doctor following every consultation. Referring doctors are treated as partners in the patient's care. If the clinical picture changes significantly — on histopathology, intraoperatively, or at follow-up — you will be informed.
